Nancy Hanks, COTA/L, Director of Rehabilitation Services

Hometown: Gadsden, Alabama

Nancy is originally from Gadsden, Alabama. She attended Gadsden State Junior College, Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has worked for Extendicare for 12 years.

Nancy worked for a contract company and Extendicare was one of her contracts. She felt very excited and blessed when Mr. Dennis hired her as the Rehabilitation Director in 1998. She really wanted to be a full time employee at Extendicare.

The best part of Nancy’s job is helping patients and meeting so many people from day to day. She also enjoys working with the great staff. She finds every day is a little different than the day before. It always stays exciting and is never the “same old, same old.”

Nancy has experienced having a family member in the Extendicare facility. Her mother in law was a resident in the long term care facility after moving here from Tuscaloosa. She enjoyed the various activities that made her life enjoyable. Nancy and her husband know they made the best decision. They consider the staff and residents a second family.

Nancy and her husband, David, enjoy their two dogs, Colby and Lucy. In her free time, Nancy enjoys boating, time on the beach with friends and family, drawing and needlework. Nancy also volunteers at the Humane Society and attends Trinity Lutheran Church. Her goal is to always be compassionate and to focus on the needs of people in her personal life as well as her professional life.
