As a consultant for long term care facilities, David Dennis moved his young family to Dothan in the early 1970s. Mr. Dennis already had several years of experience in long term care administration and was charged with managing what was at the time, Dothan Nursing Home. It wasn’t long before his love affair with the Dothan community began.
His next step was to purchase the nursing home and incorporate Extendicare in 1977. This was the beginning of what is now a 170 bed skilled nursing facility, the largest in Dothan. Extendicare, INC offers long term care services, short term rehabilitation services and assisted living services to Dothan and the Wiregrass area elderly population.
The physical growth of Extendicare has been tremendous. Through the years Mr. Dennis has hired a professional staff that is full of compassion and possess the desire to excel each day.
It doesn’t take long when meeting Mr. Dennis to realize that Extendicare occupies a big place in his heart. He is present each day walking in the halls, stepping into patient rooms to say hello and to greet new arrivals. An observer quickly sees just how much Mr. Dennis loves what he does. He will quickly tell you that he is as excited today to come to Extendicare as he was on his first day.
Joining Mr. Dennis in the family business is his son Jim, who serves as the Chief Operating Officer and his daughter Ann, who serves as the hospital nursing liaison for Extendicare. Extendicare is truly a family affair.
Mr. Dennis is married to Glenda Hall Dennis. They are the proud parents of 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
Mr. Dennis’s long term goal is to see Extendicare grow every day, to never lose sight of what is important and to see his grandchildren share his love of Extendicare.
